According to the definition made by the World Design Organization (WDO), industrial design is a strategic problem-solving process that drives innovation, provides commercial success, and leads to a better quality of life through innovative products, systems, services, and experiences. Today, the methods used by industrial designers are accepted as a method of being innovative and renewing for many different disciplines under the title of design-oriented thinking. Due to this direct relationship established with innovation, the need for industrial designers in the developing and changing industry is increasing day by day.
In line with this need, ESOGÜ Industrial Design Department started undergraduate education in the 2022-2023 Academic Year with the aim of training industrial designers who are committed to ethical principles in their field, and who observe social, economic, cultural, and ecological conditions; who think critically; who are well-versed in current design theories, methods and industrial and technological developments; who can produce interdisciplinary knowledge and value at national and international levels; who are creative, open to development and change and who interact with the industry.
Education in the Industrial Design Department is carried out with a focus on practice. The course program is designed on the basis of project-oriented studio courses to develop students' professional skills. In addition to the basic studio courses, the curriculum includes compulsory courses, elective theoretical courses, elective studio courses, and internships. In the last semester of the curriculum, students carry out graduation projects in collaboration with various companies from different sectors within the scope of the graduation project. It is aimed at students to graduate by experiencing working life through both internships and graduation projects.
